Nonequilibrium Quantum Matter

Greetings

Research of nonequilibrium phenomena in solid state materials is becoming more and more interesting. This is because of the diversity of materials hosting strongly interacting electron fluids showing exotic quantum phases such as superconductors, topological states, magnetisms, Mott insulators, and so on. It is also important to mention that experimental techniques are being developed such as nonlinear transport and ultrafast pump-probe techniques (including time resolved ARPES) that makes it possible to observe the quantum dynamics in a more or less controlled way. In our group, we try theoretically to find and propose new ways to control the quantum states in solid state materials via nonequilibrium external fields. Our group is affiliated at the two neighboring Max Planck institutes in Dresden, namely PKS (Physics of complex systems; a theory institute) and CPfS (chemical physics of solids; mainly experiments). We try to bridge the two in a way that new and exciting concepts are born.
