Biohub and the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science (MPG), represented by the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) and the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems (MPI-PKS), invite applications for the Global Science Scholars program, a three year international postdoctoral fellowship program between the U.S. and Germany designed to advance excellence in bioengineering and biomedical research by supporting early-career researchers to advance their careers and conduct groundbreaking science in U.S. and German research labs.
Researchers who trained in Germany have the opportunity to conduct research at the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub, while US-based researchers may join us at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems or the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics. Fellows gain access to complementary research networks and infrastructure. These positions offer early-career researchers the opportunity to develop independent research directions, build international collaborations, and engage with a vibrant scientific community across disciplines and continents.
At MPI-PKS, fellows become part of a highly collaborative research campus in Dresden, including the Center for Systems Biology Dresden (CSBD) and TU Dresden. This ecosystem brings together experimental biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, computational science and related disciplines in a uniquely integrated setting.
Applications are open to researchers who earned their PhD in or after March 2022. Learn more & apply by May 20, 2026 via this link.
The department of Biological Physics invites applications for Ph.D., postdoctoral, and guest scientist positions. We seek strong candidates with background in theoretical and/or computational physics and serious interest in the study of biological systems.
The Max-Planck Society is committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals. The Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.
PhD Positions
Candidates for Ph.D. student positions are encouraged to contact the director or one of the group leaders to discuss available positions and possible PhD projects. The PhD students in the department of Biological Physics are integrated into the International Max Planck Research School for Cell, Developmental and Systems Biology, through which additional positions may be available in its yearly call for applications.
Postdoctoral Positions
Postdoctoral positions are administered through the Institute's Visitors' Program. Candidates are encouraged to contact the director or one of the group leaders before applying, but applications should be submitted according to the Visitors' Program Instructions.
The Center for Systems Biology Dresden (CSBD) offers further postdoctoral positions via the ELBE postdoctoral program.
