Lecture "Methods of Quantum Many-Body Dynamics"

Methods for Quantum Many-Body Dynamics

Lecturers: David Luitz and Francesco Piazza, Time: Wed, 4:40 - 6.10 pm, Place: VIRTUAL

The lecture will cover basic methods to deal with time dependent problems in quantum many-body dynamics far from equilibrium. Basic knowledge of quantum mechanics is required, but advanced concepts starting from second quantization, path integrals and the Keldysh formalism will be covered in detail. The lecture includes both numerical and analytical state of the art techniques, ranging from exact diagonalization, Lanczos time evolution, time dependent tensor network methods (in particular TEBD) to Kadanoff-Baym approaches, time dependent mean field theory. In the end, we will arrive at quantum kinetic equations and discuss transport and quantum hydrodynamics.

Until further notice, the lecture will take place in virtual mode.

In order to synchonize this virtual lecture, we will compile an email list of participants. To register, please send a short email to dluitz at pks dot mpg dot de.

The lecture will take place during the regular winter term of TU Dresden, the first lecture is on November 4th, 2020 at 4:40 pm. We will send around technical details and zoom links to all registered participants in the week of Oct 25.
