Tunneling emission in deformed dielectric microcavities

The electromagnetic waves in 2-D dielectric microcavities exhibit similar behaviors with a particle in open quantum billiards since they share the Helmholtz equation inside the cavities and billiards. Wave emission from microcavities can be divided into tunneling and refractive ones. In general, high and low Q modes show the tunneling and the refractive emissions, respectively. We numerically study the correspondence between tunneling emissions and classical ray dynamics, as the deformation of a cavity increases.
