Exchange interactions in NaCu2O2 from spin-spiral calculations

Effective exchange coupling constants in quasi-1d NaCu2O2 are estimated by mapping the wave vector dependence of the total energy of spin spirals on a classical Heisenberg model. It is verified that the coupling between nearest Cu neighbors is ferromagnetic due to on-site exchange interaction within O p shell. Relevant inter-chain couplings are determined from the mapping and plausible super-exchange paths for them are suggested.
