Appearance of superconductivity in the vicinity of a magnetic instability is often related to quantum critical phenomena, although only in few cases the magnetic excitations which mediate the superconducting pairing have been identified. The discovery of superconductivity upon suppression of magnetism in iron containing pnictides and chalcogenides has created a great interest in the condensed matter community. We will present a detailed description of the interplay of ferromagnetism, antiferromagnetism and superconductivity in EuFe2As2 as a function of isovalent doping on the As site. We will also discuss the evolution of bonding interactions that lead to a first order phase transition in SrFe2As2 under pressure. |
