We present a maximum entropy principle-based approach to mean-field (MF) models. Within this method,
MF Hamiltonian is supplemented with additional constraint terms, which ensure self-consistency of the variational procedure.
In contrast to standard formulation of the MF approach, here a connection between the present formalism and Landau theory of phase transitions is established in a natural manner. We present numerical results for the renormalized mean-field theory (RMFT) of the t-J model, used for the theoretical description of high-temperature cuprate superconductors. |
