Connecting Theory and Experiments in Active Matter
International Focus Workshop: June 5 - 7, 2013

Active matter/collective motion theory has made recent progress which calls for confrontation to experiments. In this context in vitro experiments using purified proteins are very promising, in addition to their relevance to in vivo situations.
The workshop will bring together experimentalists performing, or interested in performing in vitro experiments using purified proteins. On the theory side, the audience will consist of the members of the Advanced Study Group (ASG) on the "Statistical physics of collective motion" currently hosted at MPIPKS, plus a few other key players in active matter physics.
The format adopted is not that of a usual workshop. Rather, we will do our best to create an atmosphere leading to (moderated) discussions between participants.

The registration fee for the workshop is
120 EUR and should be paid by all participants.
Costs for accommodation and meals will be covered by the Max Planck Institute
for the Physics of Complex Systems.
Limited funding is available to partially cover travel
expenses. Please note that childcare is available upon request.
