We analyze the physics of dipolar BEC in one dimensional optical lattices. In particular we analyze in detail the scattering of 2D bright solitons in dipolar BEC placed in two unconnected sites of an optical lattice. Due to the long range character of the dipolar interaction a molecular potential occurs between the unconnected solitons. We study the properties of the soliton molecules, including equilibrium positions, and lowest lying excitations. We show that the inelastic scattering between the solitons presents a resonance behavior provided by the internal soliton modes. Finally, we discuss the case of a 2D scattering with a non-zero angular momentum, showing the possibility of achieving spiraling motion. |
