Many-body quantum systems are very hard to describe,or even simulate using computers. During the last years it has become clear that one may be able to use quantum simulators for that purpose. In this talk I will explain ways of using ultracold atoms (ions) interacting with laser fields to simulate a variety of many-body Hamltonians.
